Hi Caroline

I had bursitis of my right hip about 18 months and nothing would touch it. I had steroid injections and they just didn't hit the mark at all and were completely useless. Rheumatology suggested a steroid injection, via ultrasound, directly into the bursa. The results were brilliant... no trouble at all since!

The injection was very painful, I have to say, because all the nerves were on edge due to the pressure from the bursa. However it may not be the same for you! In view of its success it was well worth the pain :) and within 48 hours the pain from the inflammation was gone and I could walk again.

Worth getting it done by ultrasound though otherwise it's too hit and miss. Good luck,
